Experience:
Simon is a Patent Engineer and has been working at Oryon since April 2025.
He obtained a Master’s degree in Bioengineering Sciences: Catalytic Technology at KU Leuven in 2022.
After his studies, he interned at a start-up developing biodegradable packaging made from seaweed. There, he first encountered the importance of patents for successfully bringing new technology to market.
After about two years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry as a process engineer, he decided to make the switch to the IP sector.
Simon is responsible for drafting patents, defending patent applications, and following up on the associated proceedings. Additionally, he advises clients on patentability and potential infringements, and assists in developing patent strategies. Furthermore, he is driven in searching for and analyzing patent databases and patent literature, and is known for his strong search skills. He handles his cases in French, Dutch, and English. His areas of expertise include general engineering, materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, and physics. Thanks to his thorough scientific and technical background, he can quickly analyze, understand, and apply new technologies in various domains.
