Wim Van den Boeck, MSc

Experience:
Wim is a physicist and European patent attorney and has been active in the field of intellectual property since 2001, which he first encountered as an inventor/researcher. In 2020, he joined the Oryon team, then still IPLodge.
Wim has experienced IP from various perspectives: as an IP manager in a research center, as an IP advisor for EMEA at a multinational, and as an IP advisor in private practice.
He advises clients on diverse aspects of intellectual property and patent strategy.
For instance, Wim manages clients’ patent portfolios in various sectors, where he evaluates patentability, handles the drafting of patent texts, defends patent applications, and follows up on grant procedures worldwide. Additionally, he advises clients on infringements and has extensive experience in developing patent strategies and conducting opposition proceedings. Wim has experience with patent litigation in Europe and possesses a strong background in U.S. patent law. In addition to his professional activities, he is active within the European Patent Institute (EPI), where he serves as an (alternate) counsellor for Belgium and is a member of the Professional Ethics Committee.
His areas of expertise include mechanics, physics, electronics, semiconductor processes, optics, ICT, medical imaging, and computer-implemented inventions.
He also obtained the qualification to appear before the Unified Patent Court.
